The Men’s Sheds movement

Another great project to help men’s mental health is the Men’s Sheds movement. Starting in the early 1980s in Australia, Men’s sheds or community sheds are non-profit local organisations that provide a space for craftwork and social interaction.
Men’s Sheds are kitted out community spaces where men can enjoy practical hobbies. They’re about making friends, learning and sharing skills. Many guys come just for the tea and banter, everyone’s welcome. Wikipedia

Fast forward to today and there are over 550 Men’s Sheds open and an additional 140 or more in planning at any one time. That’s around 13,000 or more Shedders, as we call them, benefiting from regular social interactions, new and improved skills, and regular, active participation in activities they enjoy
